IDEA's case study policy

An IDEA Project submitted to be recognized as an IDEA Recommended Case Study will need to have completed an internal evaluation, implemented by the coordinators, participants and Steering Committee of the Project. It will then pass through an external evaluation carried out by the Project Working Committee and the IDEA Director of Projects.

Once an approved IDEA Project has been fully evaluated, it may be proposed as an IDEA Recommended Case Study (Seal of Quality), an official recognition at a world level. This means the Project will be integrated within the IDEA Virtual Library (in the IDEA Website), to be consulted and researched into as a Recommended Case Study. This exemplary IDEA Project will be used by students, artists and researchers in Drama/Theatre Education world-wide. This official recognition will be granted to any Project that fulfills the following criteria :

1. Comprises an artistic dimension (theatre artists have been involved throughout the process), a linguistic dimension (at least two cultural languages have been used both as tools for communication and artistic material), and an educational dimension (teachers and researchers have set out with artistic, aesthetic and educational aims that have produced knowledge).

2.Achieved significant intracultural or intercultural dialogue* and artistic, aesthetic and educational quality and/or innovation.

3.Will contribute to significant inter-regional and interdisciplinary dialogue between practitioners, even if the main dynamics of the Project are limited to a single region of the world and to the field of Drama/Theatre Education.

  • Can demonstrate it has valued different and even opposing traditions, histories, world-views whilst attempting to build a unifying set of values.
