IDEA 2010 news! On August 15th, International Coordinator of IDEA 2010, Manoela Souza met with Augusto Boal and Barbara Santos at the Centre of Theatre of the Oppressed in Rio to discuss partnerships with IDEA 2010. This promising dialogue was followed by a second ABRAÇO in Salvador, north-east Brazil, where theatre-educators, university and community art-educators were consulted about how they envisage IDEA 2010. Zé Mauro, President of the Brazilian Federation of Art Educators, Maria Eugenia of the Federal University of Bahia and theatre-artists from the military police were among the many contributors from this Afro-Brazilian region. IDEA 2010 Solidarity Campaign is launched! The Director of IDEA 2010, Julio Rafael launched a Solidarity Campaign on September 1st, based on Solidarity Projects (in the areas of training and/or exchange and collaboration) between IDEA members and their communities. Members are invited to submit project proposals from October 1st 2008 until April 2009. Guidelines, criteria and application forms are now available from solidarity@idea2010.art.br and all are welcome to discuss proposals in advance. Visionary Actors in IDEA 2010 to receive awards! The IDEA 2010 Solidarity Campaign also invites early registration for IDEA 2010, from November 1st, 2008. In exchange for solidarity donations and early registrations up to September 2009, Visionary Actors are awarded a 25% discount on the world congress registration fee. The first 50 registrations will receive free tickets for a special event and a surprise gift during the IDEA 2010 world congress! Anyone interested should visit www.idea2010.art.br.
